the mission
The USS Corona is the Massachusetts chapter of the International Federation of Trekkers, a 25 year old organization dedicated to helping the world around us. The IFT is based upon the concept of bringing Gene Roddenberry's ideals of Star Trek & the Federation to the world right now! Gene helped start the IFT in 1984 and he told us he wanted the ideal Star Trek fan club to do "...what the Enterprise does, go places and help people."
Based in pride, service and honor, we "keep the dream alive" by bringing together fans of science fiction and it's advocates to help make a better future. We're a dedicated "peace keeping and humanitarian armada" giving back to the world around us through community service and just having fun!

what we really do...
All of the IFT's chapters have their own look and feel, but we all do many of the same things. Chapters have monthly meetings where we'll discuss science fiction, watch movies, RPG and have parties. We also talk about plans to help our little corner of the world through community service and work toward those goals. Away missions to conventions, blockbuster movies and science exhibits are great, too! IFT means activity, involvement and dedication to the dream!
A brief history
In the early 80's, IFT President Russ Haslage talked with Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry about forming the ideal Star Trek fan club. Over several conversations, the one idea that was dominant was that Gene said the perfect fan club "...should do what the Enterprise does. Goes places and help people." With that simple idea, the International Federation of Trekkers has grown from one small chapter in Ohio to a truly international organization with chapters in multiple countries and even cyber chapters!
The USS Corona was comissioned in January of 1999. Since then we've done park clean ups, blood drives, helped save horses, worked a cancer benefit for a young boy, gathered items for care packages for troops overseas and donated clothing for the homeless; just to name a few things. Theater lobby parties, role playing, writing ship stories, movie nights, holiday parties and cook outs are just some of the ways we like to have fun!

"Roddenberry Productions and the Roddenberry Family are strong supporters of the "International Federation of Trekkers". My father before me was a friend to Russ Haslage and IFT's membership. I personally feel that "International Federation of Trekkers" represents and upholds the philosophies that are found in the core of Star Trek's stories. As a result, I consider them to be ambassadors to the Roddenberry name and my father's vision of a greater future for all life on earth."
Best Wishes to All, Eugene Roddenberry
